Allow Your Vehicle to Sit for a Few hours

After installation, the urethane adhesive that was used to replace your windshield must be allowed to dry properly. It is important to allow the adhesive to set for at least an hour after you have returned from the shop. Urethane doesn’t fully cure for several hours so avoid driving your car until the next day.

Avoid Slamming Doors

The pressure created by slamming your vehicle’s doors can cause damage to the windshield adhesive. To avoid unnecessary pressure changes, close your doors for several hours following your windshield replacement.

You can leave the tape alone

Avoid removing adhesive tape from around your windshield while it cures. The tape protects your newly sealed area from dust and debris, and helps prevent the seal from being compromised. You can remove the tape after 24-48 hours.

You should wait 48 hours before washing your vehicle

High-pressure car washes can cause damage to your windshield and possibly shift the moldings. Before you take your car to a traditional car wash, wait at least 48 hours for adhesive to dry completely. You can wash your vehicle by hand if you have to before the 48-hour period.

Windshield Maintenance Ongoing

It is important to ensure that your windshield lasts the test of time by being vigilant about auto glass maintenance. These are the steps you need to take to maintain and protect your windshield for years, months and even years.
